He Has Risen

Easter weekend stands at the very heart of the Christian faith a sacred time that calls believers to pause, reflect, and rejoice in the profound truth of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection. It is a story not only of suffering, but of sacrifice, redemption, and ultimate victory.

Good Friday reminds us of the immense love demonstrated on the cross. Jesus willingly bore the weight of sin, offering Himself as a sacrifice for all humanity. As Scripture says:

“But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.”
Isaiah 53:5 (NIV)

In what appeared to be a moment of defeat, God was accomplishing His greatest act of love. Jesus’ final words on the cross declared the completion of that mission:

“When he had received the drink, Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’ With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”
John 19:30 (NIV)

Yet, the story does not end at the cross.

Easter Sunday is the celebration of hope fulfilled and life restored. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of Christian faith the assurance that sin and death have been overcome. The empty tomb proclaims a living Savior:

“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.”
Matthew 28:6 (NIV)

Through His resurrection, believers are given new life, a renewed purpose, and the promise of eternity:

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
1 Peter 1:3 (NIV)

Easter weekend is more than a remembrance; it is an invitation. An invitation to reflect on grace, to embrace forgiveness, and to walk forward in faith with renewed hearts. It reminds us that even in the darkest moments, God is at work, bringing light, restoration, and hope.

As we celebrate this season, may we carry the message of Easter beyond the weekend living each day in the truth that Christ is risen, and because He lives, we too have hope.
