Winter, Lent, Spring and Easter

Is it fair to say that winter is the most talked-about season, yet often the least enjoyed?

Winter, Lent, Spring, and Easter.

Four seasons two rooted in nature, and two that mark our church calendar. Yet all four are deeply interconnected.

Is it fair to say that winter is the most talked-about season, yet often the least enjoyed? It is, however, where Lent begins a season of reflection, preparation, and anticipation. From there, we move into spring, a time of renewal, where Easter unfolds.

Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon of spring. As a point of interest, the earliest possible date for Easter is March 22 though it will not occur again until the year 2285. The latest possible date is April 25, which will next occur in 2038.

Now, as I write this, spring has arrived. Good Friday and Easter celebrations have passed, but their meaning remains as powerful and relevant as ever.

What Jesus Christ did for us His death on the cross for our sins, and His resurrection on that Easter morning offers the promise of new and everlasting life.

Just as nature awakens after the stillness of winter, and agriculture prepares for a new growing season, we are reminded of the providence and faithfulness of God.

May Almighty God keep us, bless us, and make His face shine upon us.
