Christmas – May it bring us joy and peace

As we enter this sacred and beautiful season, we pause to reflect on the miracle at the heart of Christmas—the moment when God stepped into our world in the humblest of ways. In a stable, surrounded by the everyday sights and sounds of animals and working hands, hope was born. It is fitting that the story of our Saviour’s birth is rooted in an agricultural setting, reminding us that God meets us in the ordinary, in the work of our hands, and in the rhythms of creation.

This past year has brought both challenges and blessings across our farms and rural communities. Weather patterns have tested our patience, markets have shifted, and the workload has remained heavy. Yet through it all, we have also witnessed remarkable resilience, generosity, and neighbourly support. In every season, God has continued to provide—through the soil, through the harvest, and through the strength He gives us to care for the land and for one another.

Christmas invites us to pause from the busyness of daily chores, paperwork, planning, and preparations. It calls us to step away from the fields and barns, even if just for a moment, and reflect on the peace that arrived in Bethlehem so many years ago. Jesus came not with grandeur, but with simplicity, reminding us that the greatest gifts are often found in places of humility and quiet.

As farmers, producers, and stewards of God’s creation, we understand deeply the themes of hope, waiting, renewal, and faith. We plant seeds without seeing the harvest. We care for livestock with patience and trust. We rely daily on God’s provision, knowing that only He can bring growth. This same trust echoes the message of Christmas: that God is with us—guiding, sustaining, and renewing us in every season.

As you gather with family, friends, and your faith community, may the light of Christ fill your homes with warmth and your hearts with gratitude. May this season bring rest from your labour, joy in togetherness, and renewed hope as we prepare for a new year. And as we look forward to the seasons ahead, may we continue to serve faithfully, love generously, and rely fully on God’s grace in both our work and our walk with Him.

From our family to yours, may you experience a blessed Christmas and a peaceful, joy-filled New Year.
