Finding the Balance – Farming, Development & Environmental Protection
The theme of our 2020 Policy Tour was Balancing Farming with Development and the Environment. CFFO members across the province discussed the demand in Ontario for both expanded development and environmental protection – and how farming is often caught in the middle.
Policy Tour participants examined select programs and policy tools used in Ontario to balance the needs of agriculture, development and the environment, particularly Agricultural Impact Assessments (AIAs) and the Environmental Farm Plan (EFP).
This report offers a series of recommendations to strengthen these programs in support of sustainable agriculture.
