CFFO DISAPPOINTED BY Lack of Agricultural Focus in Ontario’s 2026 Budget
Ingersoll, ON – The Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario (CFFO) is expressing disappointment in the Ontario government’s 2026 Budget, noting the limited recognition of agriculture and the significant increase in the provincial deficit.
Ontario farmers continue to face rising costs, labour shortages, and infrastructure pressures. Despite these challenges, the budget offered few new measures to support the long-term stability of the agricultural sector.
“Farmer are doing their part every day, but this budget does not reflect the urgency of the pressures they face,” said Henk Vaarkamp, president of the CFFO. “We are also concerned about the growing provincial deficit and what it means for future investment in rural communities.”
The CFFO urges the government to prioritize agriculture in future fiscal planning and to ensure that programs remain responsive to the real needs of Ontario farm families.
